Online safety
- Keep conversations on Penzio until you trust someone; be cautious with early requests to move to other apps.
- Never send money, airtime, or gifts to someone you have not met, regardless of their story.
- Protect personal data — avoid sharing home addresses, ID numbers, or workplace details too soon.
- Use block and report tools for pressure, harassment, or suspicious behaviour.
Meeting in person
- Meet in a busy public place such as a café or mall; avoid isolated locations for first meetings.
- Tell a friend or family member who you are meeting, where, and when. Share live location if you are comfortable.
- Arrange your own transport. Do not rely on a stranger for a ride home on a first date.
- Stay sober enough to make clear decisions and leave if you feel uncomfortable.
Health and consent
Consent must be freely given and can be withdrawn at any time. Discuss boundaries openly. For sexual health information, consult qualified providers or public health services in your country.
Emergencies
If you are in immediate danger, contact local emergency services. In Kenya, dial 999 or 112 where available. Uganda and Tanzania maintain their own emergency numbers — use the appropriate service for your location.
Support from Penzio
Email safety@penzio.co.ke with details of urgent safety issues. We cannot respond to emergencies in real time but prioritise reports involving threats, underage users, and credible risk of harm.
